Entry Fee: $20 first weapon, $5 additional weapons

Format: Round robin then elimination bracket

The gym will be open from 8am, please arrive at least 15mins before your event starts to check in.

Fencing NZ AGM

Fencing New Zealand are holding their Annual General meeting at 7pm on 29th March. The meeting will be via Skype and we will be connecting in to the meeting from Auckland Swords Club (Auckland Grammar School Old Gymnasium, 54 Mountain Rd, Epsom).

 

All members are welcome to attend. Please arrive by 6.50pm if you want to listen in.

Minutes from previous meeting:
Isabelle Williams moves that we accept the minutes from the previous meeting, Jess Gracie seconds. All in favour.

 

Matters arising from previous meeting:

FeNZ AGM on 29th March – we will set up a meeting at Auckland Swords Club to skype in to the AGM. Oliver to send out details.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

Oliver Agnew still needs to be paid $358.28.

Daniela moves that we accept the Treasurer’s report, Hamish Bulmer seconds. All in favour.

 

Fencing NZ News

Ian Perry wants to start a series of roadshows introducing the FeNZ Strategic Plan – suggestion that we invite him to our April meeting. Eric to formally invite Ian.

 

Payments

Note that unless there are receipts people will not be reimbursed.

Johann Ryu needs to be reimbursed for prizes, $29.84.

 

Other Business

Oliver brings up that we have some fencers competing at International competitions in April and that we paid for our fencer’s individual entry fees at similar events last year.

Daniela Ravera moves that Fencing North should pay for entry fees for fencers competing at International Events in April, Jess Gracie seconds. All in favour.

Timetable:

Friday 22nd April:

Weapons Control at the venue 7pm - 9.30pm. You can also get your gear checked from 8am each competition day.
 

Saturday 23rd April:
New Zealand Under 15 Championships - Foil

9am: Boy's Foil
1pm: Girl's Foil


Sunday 24th April:

New Zealand Under 15 and Under 17 Championships - Epee & Sabre

9am: Boy's and Girls Epee*

1pm: Boy's and Girls Sabre*

*The U17 Epee and Sabre competitions will begin at the scheduled start times, and the Under 15 events will begin once the Under 15 fencers have finished competing in the Under 17 event. These events may be mixed gender if necessary.
 

Monday 25th April:

New Zealand Under 17 Championships - Foil

9am: Boy's Foil
1pm: Girl's Foil

Format:

Poules followed by an elimination round. Initial seedings for the poules will be based on national rankings.

Entry Fee:

$40 for first weapon, $10 for additional weapons*. Entry form is at the bottom of this page - entries close on the 17th April.

All fencers need to be affiliated to Fencing New Zealand. If you have any questions about affiliation contact your club/region.

*Please note that the New Zealand Under 15 and New Zealand Under 17 Championships are separate events and entry fees are to be paid at each event (eg, fencing one weapon at each event will cost $80 total). 
To pay by Internet Banking, please deposit your entry fee to 01-0297-0024774-00. Reference the payment with your name and AKL16. You can also pay your entry fee when you arrive at the event.

Age Applicability:

NZ U15s is open to any fencer who was under 15 on the 1st January this year. For U17s you need to have been under 17 on the 1st of January this year

Fencing NZ News

Eric has received a copy of the FeNZ Strategic Plan to distribute to the Fencing North Committee. This is a living document and we are going to work through it at club level, looking towards providing feedback as a region.

 

Fencing NZ AGM

The FeNZ AGM will be on 29th March at 7pm. Oliver to distribute the notice of AGM to our clubs. Gaylene to talk to AGS to see if we can connect to their wifi to host a group that can call in to the AGM.

 

Competition Sub Committee 2016

Forming of sub-committee for 2016 - nominally to be lead by Daniela Ravera.

We received a message from Kate Brill enquiring about U15 epee/sabre. It is proposed that we ask for expresions of interest to compete in these events.

 

New Affiliation System

New online affiliation system to be used by all fencers. Oliver to work on how clubs can affiliate their fencers, and also how clubs can check which of their fencers are affiliated.

All competitions have been booked at Massey High School

 

Equipment Purchases Update

Everything that we purchased has arrived in NZ - expecting piste delivery in time for W Dawn

W Dawn 2016 - Results

We kicked off the fencing season with a good day at Massey High. There were 41 fencers competing - thanks to everyone who came!
