As everyone should be aware, Judit Fliszar has recently been appointed to the role of Head of Coaching Development for Fencing North.
To this end Judit has been asked to set up a number of FN "Coaching the Coaches" sessions.
If you're a coach at a club or school, you are invited to join us for a discussion / planning session:
Saturday 29th Feb at 1.00pm at:
8/38 William Pickering Drive,
It is with great sadness that Fencing North has to advise that on Tuesday 11th February 2020, Gaylene Ongley, Treasurer and Secretary, and heart and soul of the Auckland Amateur Fencing Association (now Fencing North), passed away.❤️
Gaylene and her husband Alex truly dedicated their lives to the running of our wonderful sport for many many years, and she was a mainstay of New Zealand Fencing .
Gaylene's funeral will be held on Tuesday the 18th of February at at Purewa Crematorium 100 St. Johns Road (Auckland).
I can also think of no more fitting tribute to an amazing lady (and friend) than for a record turnout for the tournament that bears her name - The Ongley, on the 14th of March at Trusts.
I hope to see you all there.
A death notice in Herald will be published this Saturday.
Asian Juniors and Cadets Fencing Championships - Postponement
FYI - FeNZ has received notification from the Fencing Federation of Asia that "the upcoming Asian Juniors and Cadets Fencing Championships scheduled in Jakarta Indonesia from February 25 to March 5 2020 will NOT be held and postponed for after the Olympic Games, tentatively in August. We request your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you."
Important Notice: The date of the Ongley Open has been changed from the 15th of March (Sunday) to the 14th (Saturday). See the full calendar here.
It's with great pleasure that we are pleased to announce that Judit Fliszar has been appointed to the Fencing New Zealand Coaching Commission, and is now the new Fencing North Coaching Development Officer.
Judit has a great deal of experience and a lot of exciting plans to help develop all our coaches, both old and new, and will be inviting coaches to come and meet and work through a full development plan for the year
Please do everything you can to assist her in her new role.
