Minimum Equipment Standards for Regional Competitions:

Regional events are any events run by Fencing North other than National competitions or the Fencing North Open Champs. For all regional events fencers need to have at minimum a 350N Plastron, 350N Jacket, glove, trackpants, long socks, 350N mask (with electric lame bib for foilists). If a higher standard of equipment is available we recommend that you use it. Blades do not need to have an FIE stamp at regional competitions.

FIE foil and epee blades / S2000 sabre blades also required for all for all tournaments except those with size 3 blades or smaller – ie in line with FIE requirements.

Note:

1.    Tournaments overseas (eg Australia) will have their own equipment requirements dependent on the Fencing Federation and the type of tournament.

2.    These standards are intended for New Zealand ONLY.

3.    It will be expected that where a fencer can use equipment of a higher standard – eg 800N or breeches rather than long trackpants, then they will do so.

4*. Leon Paul SR-71 epee blades dated 08-2012 to 06-2015, and Leon Paul V epee blades 08-2012 to 06-2015 without serial numbers - are currently banned by Fencing NZ

Note that this standard is from 2008 but still applies as at August 2015

*added in July 2015
